Repair local area connection window does not close

By raleigh_dc ·
I have a slight problem regarding the local area connection window. It does not affect my browsing but the window wont close. It's bothering my view whenever I open a new window. The usual remedy I do is to restart my computer. A "cancel" selection at the bottom of the window appears but not functioning. How can I repair this?

It appears in task manager as explorer.exe. It's ok to kill it, but this also kill the taskbar and desktop icons so restart explorer manually i.e. File -> New Task (Run), type "explorer". An alternative to "repair" could be to disable/enable the connection.
