Roaming Profiles - no mapped drives

By Michael ·
I am running a Windows Server 2003 with 15 Win200 and WinXP clinets. I am switching everyone over to roaming profiles, however when they go to loging at another computer none of their network drives, printers, outlook, and other program settings are there. All of their icons are there, but desktop and screen savers are gone too.

Hi there,

to get the users to have their mapped drives just include the details in a logon script like below:

"net use z: \\server\share"

Similar can be done for their default printers, desktop wallpaper, screensavers, etc, but for those I use a kix script.

Hope this helps

Copy there profiles to there local machines.c:\winnt\profiles\default user\profile name....

These profiles when loaded will provide the same interface as if they where connected to the network...

back-up the profile that is copied onto other mapped drive....

Only copy the roaming profiles when all the settings are put in place by the administrator....

c:\winnt\cache keeps all the information of the user details even if the user is dc from the network.........///

try & get back...

I had this same issue. Check to see that they are pointed to the correct files in the Active Directly. Also, be sure they have rights to write to that file.
