I am the tech for a small POS company that installs a single server and multiple workstations (1-5) in each restaurant
Recently we have noticed a speed issue for some reason.
Here is the process of what I did:
We had a 5 port switch installed but decided to install internet for the purposes of remote access.
So I took out the 5 port switch and installed an 8 port due to the fact that they wanted more stations added.
I connect the internet connection to the Linksys WRT54GL wireless router, then to the DLNK Switch (8 port)
Installed a simple AVG Free antivirus
Now when we go to access the POS software which uses the network to access the server – there is a delay when pushing screen buttons – usually there is no delay
Could it be the router? Is modem to router to switch the wrong way to set this up?
Could AVG be the culprate?
PLEASE HELP!!!
