Same Internal and External Domain name question

by abinkiwitz . Updated 17 years, 5 months ago

I am running Windows 2003 Server SP2 with Active Directory. I have the same internal and external domain name – mydomain.com.

On my Domain Controller, in my DNS forwarders, I currently have a DNS A record for “www.mydomain.com” which points to my external ISP’s DNS server. When I type “www.mydomain.com” I go to my eternal website just fine – no problems.

My question – How do I get to my external domain name when I type “http://mydomain.com” or “mydomain.com” into the browser? I can’t create another A record for “http://mydomain.com” because mydomain.com is also my local domain. Not a single forum has addressed this issue. (I’ve searched about 50 forums so far.)
