SAP - Project Systems Implementation ?

By laurie13 ·
Our company is in the process of implementing SAP. Our division is in the business of running capital projects. We are being told we don't need SAP Project Systems. Does anyone have any experience using SAP with or without Project Systems? Any pro's, con's, or suggestions? They won't even let us try it out, so we don't know what we are or are not missing. Thanks.

I am also doing a SAP Implementation, our company will not let us install the project system now. However my consultants have informed us that by using Internal Orders and Investment Management that this will help to facilitate the need for the Capital budget processing. In our own Capital Budgeting process were are developing it is not necessary right now to bring the Project System online. Like I have mentioned look into using the Internal Orders in the Controlling area along with Investment Management.

The internal order will be able to help capture all of the expenses assoicated with a particular expense. The purchasing Dept would have to code every PO to this number. The Internal Order would hold this pool of money before settling back to an expense or asset.
