Sata drives

By rtaylor1755 ·
I have 2 250 gig hard drives on my new computer. They are set for non-raid configuration. How do you set them up for RAID.I never messed with SATA drives. They both are set up for master. I loaded XP on both drives. I can see both of them now but, it seems that I can set one as a master and the other as a slave or RAID them.

To configure a Raid Array

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Sata drives

All you need do is follow the directions in the User Manual that came with the M'Board or computer.

Most of the M'Boards that support multiple SATA Drives support a Software RAID.

But if you do configure them as a RAID you will only see 1 HDD as Windows will treat the RAID no matter what type as 1 Drive and not 2 in this particular case.

master or slaving

by rtaylor1755 In reply to To configure a Raid Array

I appreciate the help wiht the new computer. So, I don't need to set one drive as a master and the other drive as a slave. I will check the book on the motherboard to see what software it will support.
