SATA to Firewire controller

By justin ·
I'm trying to find the bridge board being used in this item

http://www.datoptic.com/cgi-bin/web.cgi?product=RM12_1394B-S&detail=yes

It looks like it allows at least 3 SATA drives to connect to one Firewire 800 port.

Custom

by TheChas In reply to SATA to Firewire controll ...

I suspect that you will find that the bridge or adapter board in a dedicated system like this is custom to the manufacture.

Sure, they are likely using a contract manufacture. But, I can all but guarantee that both parties have non-disclosure agreements that prevent sharing the technology.

The above said, the electronics should not be very complex. You have up to 4 multi channel SATA controllers, some sort of memory buffer and a fire-wire interface. Some form of RISC processor, perhaps implemented in a FPGA performs the house-keeping.
