Screen Blankout

By okippiko ·
What would cause a screen to go blank rather than display the screensaver? Once I move the mouse the screen returns to the application that I'm using. The monitor is a Cybermax 17". Windows 98, Pentium III 500 & 128MB Ram are in this system. Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Check all of the Power saver settings. turn monitor power saver off in the control panel settings.and also if the monitor has an on screen menu check there for any power save setting.

From background screen, right click and select Properties from the pop-up menu to activate the display's properties or you can go to Control Panel, double click in Display icon. From display's propeties window, go to Screen Saver tab. In the combo-box there, change the screen saver to whatever you want or (blank if you like). Click preview to see the sample. If you don't have the blank screen saver then copy it from other machine. All the screen saver files are resided in Windows\System directory (.scr).

Hope this helps,

You should also check the Power Management settings in CMOS. Generally I disable it on all systems we supply. This feature often causes the monitor (can do Hard Disks as well) to black out and/or suspend until the space bar is pressed. Hope this is helpful.
