Hi,
I have experienced a problem simalar with search
for files and folders. The problem was a conflict
from my antivirus software ( norton antivirus )
So my suggestion is to try a search after you
disable your antivirus and see if this is the
problem. If this helps you could try a reinstall
of your virus software. It helped my machine!
Regards, Gil

Also you may like to look at the microsoft
knowledge base for answers, That is if you find
that it is your antivirus conflicting. They claim
there are quite a few conflicts that can occur
with virus software, and there are some fixes.
