Second Harddrive Not Detected

By saltglass ·
Did fresh win98 install, Fdisk. Now system will not upgrade monitor card, Diamond Speedstar Sis 6326 AGP, Tekram motherboard. Second hard drive is not detected under winfile or explorer. It is detected in the bios. This is the drive that contains most of my files and data.

Start with the chipset/motherboard drivers.

That should take care of most of your problems.

Was the second drive set up with a "drive overlay program?

Such as EasyBios.

If so, you need to re-install the EXACT peogram again.
When you wiped the Master drive, you lost the program.
There is a special sequence you need to use with any of these programs in order to boot from floppy, and re-set the drive.

Check the drive mfg web site, if you don't remember.

I have an old Packarb Bell 930 motherboard with built in video and audio that I have to use ez-bios in order to use a large drive. I would encounter the same problem you are having without ez-bios installed. Install ez-bios and see if this solves your problem.

Hi,

As of the SIS 6326 AGP card is concerned the best option for you is to try downloading the drivers. you can do it from the following URL:

http://www.sis.com/support/driver/6326.htm

If the Second hard drive is not showing in the Explorer, I believe you might have deleted the partitions by mistake. I suggest you verify whether this by booting through the Windows 98 Startup disk, type "Fdisk /status" (without quotation marks) at the command prompt, and View the Partitions of Second hard drive.

Regards,
Bala
