    Securing Workstations from the Internet

    Locked

    by glenn ·

We have a Win 2000 Server with around 20 computers in it’s domain. We are setting up a T1 connection for internet access which the server and several workstations must have access. We have 6 POS (Point of Sale)workstations that do not need nor is it feasbly to have internet access on these workstations. How can I disable them?

Are you using a firewall??? Are you using an AD domain? If so on either account, it would be very easy. On the firewall front, use an access list. On the AD side, create a GPO that takes away IE.

First in their gateway definitin in the network properties tcp/ip tab don’t give a gateway ip to the router . second method use a proxy/firewall on the server and disable the POS from going out ! Or in the Acess List of the router enter the command disabling the POS to go out . e.g. simply :
      access list deny xxx.ccc.rrr.ttt
