There's no issue if you use SSL. There's only two security issues I can think of. There are people out there who put up fake web sites and take your money and send you nothing in return. This is done all the time on eBay where people order things and get nothing in return. It's the Number One complaint on the Internet.

A second problem is that the company store your credit card number on its server. They do this to make it easier for you to come back and buy more stuff. What if their server is hacked and the bad guy gets your credit card number? This has happened in the past. I would trust amazon.com with securing their servers but what about bobsdiscountcomputerparts.com? There are risks in Internet shopping and you have to decide if it's worth it. I personally have a Visa card that I only use for online shopping. This way I can easily monitor the activity on that card.
