I’ve just installed Mandrake 7.1 and my serial mouse (attached to COM1/3f8 IRQ4 on an ISA serial card) responds erratically when I move it. The pointer jumps all over the screen whenever I move the mouse. I tried booting to a DOS boot disk and loading a DOS mouse driver and the mouse responded correctly with no jumpiness. It’s a Radio Shack serial mouse (Microsoft-compatible). I’ve tried setting the mouse up as MS, Microsoft, and generic serial using MOUSECONFIG, but none of these changes seem to help. Any ideas?
Also, do I need to reboot the machine or just X after changing something in MOUSECONFIG? I’ve been rebooting the whole machine after each change to be sure. Thanks for all help!
