Server 2003

By froompy2001 ·
Setting up a active directory domain at home:
- Linksys router (that acts as dhcp)
- External isp
- One Windows server 2003, as a domain controller and dns server.

I've set up a domain, dns server but it takes a long time to log on to the domain. I believe it's a problem with dns, but what should I be doing with a router and isp?

dns indeed

the linksys router also assigns your workstations their preferred DNS server, most likely itself. Try manually setting the ip information on the workstation. Make sure the primary DNS server is the 2003 DC.

Then you'll have to make sure on the DNS server, that DNS requests for anything other than your domain get forwarded to your ISP.
