Urgent help needed
My server's crawling. Its a Quad Core 1.8 with 2 Gb Ram. Its acting as a DNS server.
First i thought its to do with Symantec end point protection. I ended its service but still no major luck. At some point I cannt even login to server.

CPU usage is between 20% to 50%.
I looked at the processes and the only major ones are smcsrv.exe which is 101 Mb and services.exe which is 144 Mb

Urgent help needed.

Have you tried ending specific services, processes to see if you can narrow down the culprit? Have you looked at MSCONFIg to see what all is launching at startup? Have you run any spyware adware scans. Virus scans? What all have you tried so far????

SEP is a killer

by Kenone In reply to SERVER CRAWLING

smcsrv.exe is part of SEP btw. also do you have the management console loaded on this server? What version of SEP are you running? How often is it updating (heartbeat)? Check the event viewer and see what it's reporting.
