A computer is to be purchased for an internate service provider(ISP)which is to usedas one of the server at the network backbone.What may be the role of this server at for the ISP?Can this server be out for other server related applications?Describe the confugration of this server giving reasons for selection of various components.

I don't want to sound rude, but your question is very confusing. The network backbone consists of the Network Routers and Switches (most often). Servers on the backbone are utilized for applications such as Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) or Domain Name Services (DNS). There are other server applications on some network backbones such as Quality Of Service (QoS) or network Monitoring (sniffers and such).

Without knowing what applications you want to run on the server, it is impossible to start to describe a configuration.

If you can provide more detail around the applications, then I could give you a configuration.
