I am looking to gather information on best practices for the installations of servers into a rack environment. We are mainly using IBM Xseries servers with the odd old Compaq proliant thrown into the mix. I am looking to get info on what is required in the racks and where is the besk posstion to place the servers. Also i would like to know if there are any industry standards for Rack configurations etc, to maximise server uptime whilst keeping cost and heat down to a minimum.
Any further questions please ask.
Many Thanks David

This is a good starting point for your rack or racks it will automatically place the devices in the right places for you. There is also an option for third party server's to be defined.
Hope this gets you started all the equipment for the vendor is included I fined the Dell program the best but as you are a IBM shop start with there program.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
