I have a technician that recently rebuilt a Server due to a hard drive crash. (Single server running 2003 std as a DC) The domain consist of about 15 workstations. The server was rebuilt and given the same exact computer name and domain name as the old one. The workstaions were all joined to the domain again, but they are all being applied the same group policy from the previous server.
I think this is caused by a different SID on the Server, but not sure. However, rebuilding (re-installing Windows) on the workstations will fix the issue. My question is, is there a way to remove what seems to be a cached policy left on the workstations? I think it could also be a DNS issue or user profile issue but I am out of ideas.
Thanks so much for any help.
