Server solution?

By itsjustmeind ·
I am in the process of planning to setup a computer system for a medium sized resturant. As a result, the owners would like to install a cost effective integrated cash registers, accounting and inventory system.
My question is,would I need to consider a solution based on a server based application system? The hardware? (cash registers,) and the accounting system software? If so, what is the most cost effective
Thank you,

Server solution?

by Deadly Ernest In reply to Server solution?

30 months ago I submitted a proposal for a fully integrated sales/accounting system for a local business. DigiTill is made by the same people who make MYOB and they are fully integrated from the box. DigiTill also has Point of Sale (POS) and scannercapability. And it all runs on a standard PC.

Cost were MYOB A$520, DigiTill A$995 per site, with the PoS hardware being A$900 (incl scanner).

The PoS hardware can be installed in a number of lacations within the store and communicate with thePC by ethernet. This means that the data can be safe stored away from the customer area.

This system provided a fully integrated sales/inventory/accounting package, and can even do accounts, depends upon the MYOB version you buy. This set up works well.

Ability to obtain and support this particular set up would depend upon the the avialability of a supplier.

BTW My particular job was to set up arrangements for 3 stores to run integrated inventory/accounting and I needed to designate the design criteria for an integrated inventory database with three storage locations as the DigiTill was a single store system. Other multistore systems exist but the cheapest available here at that time was over A$10,000 per copy, and then the PoS hardware was a seperate issue.

Good luck.
