Hi all,
I have been tasked with spec-ing out a new server for our facility. It will be a Windows Server 2003. We need nothing fancy. Would prefer rack mount, but not necessary. I do however want redundant power supplies. 2 GB of ram. What I want/need to know is – I need as much hard drive space as possible. What I would like to do is have maybe a 100 GB or better mirror for the system partition. Then a second mirror of 500 GB for data. I am not sure if I can have 2 separate mirrors in one box. And if I can, I assume I need to have 2 separate controllers? Final question – if these mirrored hard drives humm along nicely for 2 years or so – then one decides to die – I will need to replace it with the same exact model hard drive, correct? If yes – should this concern me? What happens if I cannot get a matching hard drive at that time? What if they are discontinued or whatever?
Thanks.
