Sharepoint Services on Existing web server

By j_parks81 ·
Hi, We are in need of a out of the box Intranet and Document Repository, which I feel Sharepoint services would be the best option. We currently have a web server running IIS with quite a few default web sites running on it.

I want to install WSS so I can slowly build up the intranet functions and document repositry, but have read from a few places that it can 'screw' up existing sites.

Our sites our business crital so do not want to come across problems.

Has anyone got any advice??

Our web server 'Windows Server 2003 R2', IIS 6, SQL on a different server..

Thanks

Jay

I fear you would be asking too much from the web Server to do this along with the functions already in place. probably not what you wanted to hear. I think you would regret having any new service as big as WSS runing on it.

You have no other platform to run it from??

Do you have any performance monitoring running to see what resources are used with the present setup?

Here is a system requirements document from Technet. In case you feel I'm wrong. Tight budgets do suck.

I am a little concerned for our existing portal and web app that currently run on our web server. I have got maybe 1 or 2 similar spec'd machines that are not running IIS at the mo...
