I have been tasked with making Sharepoint available to the project management division of my company. I was told they want to stand SharePoint up for about 50 users inner network only. My first question (of several I am sure)how much will it cost, what exactly do i need. Do I need SharePoint Server 2007 & then copies of Sharepoint Services 3.0 & Designer?

Any help will be very appreciated!

sharepoint requires both a client and server. You can set it up on an intranet. I would suggest that you visit the Sharepoint site and forums to learn about your specific setup, permissions, and security details.

Once you get it setup for your use it is pretty easy to maintain.

Have fun.

What about hosting services?

by j0204 In reply to SharePoint

We were a small agency that couldn't afford all the resources required to maintain Sharepoint. We are using a hosting service. We spend about $550 a year and an unlimited amount of users. It's not that great (2GB of storage, and the customer support is awful) but it was a good start into supporting our own server. Just a thought.
