I just got Verizon FIOS and purchased a new HP desktop with Vista. I have 4 additional computers with XP that I would like to be able to print from (2 desktops, 2 laptops). They all can connect to the internet. I have a Brother HL-2040 that is directly connected through a USB port to the new HP desktop with Vista. I can only print from the computer it is connected to. I tried to locate the printer from my other computers, but did not find it. I read through several similar threads, but I couldn’t resolve the problem. I read something about inputting the IP Address of the printer on the other computers, but I don’t know how I would do that. Also, would the HP Vista desktop need to be turned on in order to print from another computer?
Note: I also have a Linksys Print Server device (not too familiar with it), which I am not sure whether it can assist me with this situation.
