Simple question about reports

By naveed ·
What is the difference between canned reports and out-of-the-box reports. I have recently joined as Team Lead in telecom organization and not quite clear on what the difference is?

Pre-packaged reports

They are both pre-packaged reports. Clearly, out-of-the-box reports are supplied by the vendor; canned reports possibly could have been developed in-house, but I doubt it -- usually those are called in-house or home-grown reports. You may be the first person in your company to know enough to ask!

General & Special

Canned reports can be said as the reports that are being generated regularly or some pre defined reports. Out of the box reports are the ones that are different from the regular reports, any report on new analysis or any report that allows a user to make decisions, reports which was not requested that give valuble information can be termed as out of the box reprots.
