SiteCafe Manager with SiteKiosk clients

by fnanfne . Updated 17 years, 1 month ago

Hi there!
I have a connection problem between a dedicated server on which SiteCafe is installed and a client on which SiteKiosk is installed.
I hope someone is familiar with this software, assuming the problem is with the software and not on the main Servers side.

SETUP:
We are running Windows Server 2003 which allocates IP addresses to all the nodes on the domain using DHCP.

We then have a dedicated server for serving 10 clients using internet-cafe software called SiteCafe. The software installed on the clients is called SiteKiosk and both SiteCafe and SiteKiosk were developed by Provisio.

This network has been set up by someone else on a previous occasion and has been working with no problems ever since.

PROBLEM:
One of the client computers became faulty and I had to replace it with another one.
I installed the OS, joined the domain and installed the SiteKiosk software on the new machine.

Once you install the “client software” and open it on the given computer, you can manage it with the “server software”.

I cannot however get the new PC to communicate with the PC running the SiteCafe software.

The new PC is connected to the domain network and I’m able to open network drives and browse the net. I can even see the new computer on the server(which runs Windows server 2003) and with the DHCP console, I can see that an IP address has been assigned to it.

I don’t think there’s a problem with the software or the installation of it(I reinstalled it a few times) but I do think I’m missing something small on the servers side.

As usual, any help or ideas would be appreciated, thanks!
