Virus scan, apyware scan

by Pringles86 In reply to slow computer

How much RAM does the computer have? OS? Free hard drive space?

Go here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and do a virus scan on the computer.

Then go here: http://www.spybotupdates.com/files/spybotsd14.exe to download spybot, download all of the updates, perform a scan, then remove all the bad stuff.

Let me know if it all works out.

You need to do system optimization tasks once a week so as to fast-up your computer performance. These tasks include defragmenting your disks & registry, cleaning temporary stuff and reducing services.

[A] Defrag the Disk:

1. Click Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Defragmenter.
2. Select the drives that you wish to defragment.
3. Click "Defragment Disks" button.

Defrag the Registry:

In RegInOut System Utilities, click "Defragmenter". Click "Analyze" button to begin scan process. After it is completed, click "Defragment" button.

[C] Clean Temporary Stuff:

1. Click Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk CleanUp.
2. Select a drive and press ENTER.

[D] Reduce the Services:

Using RegInOut, click "Services Manager" and then click the button "Optimize Services".
