SmartStart & 641 Array Controller

By jackiestinson ·
Have 5 drives on the one controller-would like to Mirror the 1st 2 and put Win2003 Server on them and then Raid the other 3. How do I do that with HP-Smart Start?

The easiest is probably to use the array configuration utility to select two drives, mirror them and create one disk that way. Then install the OS. Then when your done you can either use the smartstart cd again, or one of the installed hp utilities, to create another array with the three remaining disk in RAID5

If you have hotswap on the SCSI controller, why not just RAID 5. you achieve the same results as a RAID 1 on 2 drives and RAID 0 with 3 drives. The only thing is its all RAID 5. The HP utilities will allow you to partition out the RAID 5.
