I am running xp sp2, zonealarm, avg, and IE7 on various dell pc’s. I have approx 80 pc’s and a pix 501 as the dhcp server. The problem is, some of the users complain of “the Internet is down”. When I go to troubleshoot, I open IE and sure enough no connection. I ping our gateway with the same pc and its fine. I check the “Internet” with another pc and it connects. When I restart the pc it usually corrects whatever the problem is. Repairing the connection doesnt work to well. I tried giving the client a static ip and Ive still noticed the same problems. Also, some of the pc’s are fresh installs of xp and other updated software. Since I can ping when the “Internet” isnt working, would these be a software problem. Has anyone heard of the same issues, could zonealarm be blamed? Thanks for any help and if more info is needed let me know.
