Sony dsc p5 digital camera

By peterbakker ·
Windows XP sees the camera card, but does not see the camera in the scanners and cameras in the control panel.
The camera used to start the camera wizard when it was plugged in and turned on but it does not any more.
Any idea why?

Thanks Peter

Uninstall the driver and software if you can while the device is connected and then disconnect it. Dont worry too much if you cannot uninstall the driver. Go to the Windows folder and look for the INF folder (Its usually a hidden folder). In this folder look for files that look like this OEMxx.inf. Sub numbers for the "xx". You might have to open all of these files one by one to figure out which one is for the camera. It will list the manufacturer in it. This is one of the driver files and tells windows where from and how to load the driver. By deleting this file you force windows to reload this driver from scratch and you will have to supply the driver files.
Follow the install procedure for the camera driver and software.
Hope this helps
