Sony Laptop

By jbhardesty ·
I have a Sony Laptop that keeps shutting down just right after a system restore. I can't get past this point. But I can boot to safe mode. I hae shut down everything that starts but the systray and explorer. I have even installed a new hard drive. Any suggestions??

Could there be a corrupt driver or setting in the restore?

Have you tried a clean install of Windows?

If this is from Sony's restore CD, it is possible that you have the CD for a different model.

anything in the event log? did you try another restore point? did you try using the Recovery Console (boot from CD) are you sure it is not mechanical: processor overheating, ram loose, like that?

I found the problem. It was the APCI in the system devices. When I disabled this my computer was fine. Just about had me whipped too.
