Sony VGC-LA3 Screen won't stay on

By martinbullock15 ·

I have a Sony VGC-LA3 all in one desktop and yesterday when i switched the computer on the screen would only stay on for a couple seconds and then go black/off, if i use the monitor on/off button it will come back on for a few seconds then go black/off again.

Thanks in advance for any help

Try a power cycle

Unplug the power cable and plug it back in after a couple minutes.
Also there's often a reset function on the monitor. I'd consult the product documentation on this.

It is possible that this monitor is dead. If so, check the product warranty, you might be able to get it replaced.

Thanks for your post,

I had it turned off for a couple hours with no change,

It is also out of warranty, as i rang Sony and it was going to cost ?250 for them to look and up to ?800 if it was the monitor.

Thanks again

Power Cable

Did you actually unplug the power cable and leave it unplugged for at least a couple minutes. There is a difference between that and just turning it off. Electrical charge and all that jazz.

Edit: I assume this was a monitor. The product in question is actually a laptop. Try removing the battery. It's a long shot, but no harm in trying.

Inverter or Backlight

by martinbullock15 In reply to Power Cable

Yea it was completly unplugged,

It's actually an all in one desktop computer.

After looking more on the internet it could be the inverter and backlight as a similar thing happened with my Laptop. Although on my laptop if i tilted the laptop a certain way you could still see the screen just extremly dull.

Kind Regards

i would try ....

by StefanVerster In reply to Inverter or Backlight

to connect a second screen through the vga port if it has one(not sure) and if that works i would check to see if the correct screen card drivers are installed.Actually i would just reinstall it anyway as that could cause the problem you are experiencing.Another thin g you could try is to boot into safe mode without the second screen and see if that works and if it does then you know you are dealing with a driver problem.Hope it helps!
