SOUND FROM CD ROM DRIVE

By vicram ·
I am running win 2000 - I am not hearing any sound when I connect my earphone to the cd rom phone connector on the cd rom drive. I would appreciate if you could tell me how to correct or configure the system to work. I used different earphones with the same problem.

Thanking you

SOUND FROM CD ROM DRIVE

The earphone jack on the CD-ROM drive will only work with audio CDs. If you cannot hear audio CDs with it, then the jack is not working and you would need to replace the CD-ROM drive. It will not play any sounds coming from your computer. If you aretrying to use it instead of speakers, you will need to plug the headphones into the speaker jack on the back of the PC.

The headphone jack will only work with true audio CDs. It cannot decode MP3 files or any other format.

Some CD drives disable the front panel headphone jack when set to use the digital signal for audio.

In device manager, select the drive andview the properties.

Un-check the box for use digital data for audio files.
