Spastic mouse actions,ME system

By bever ·
This is an AMD 400 processor with 192 Ram. Mouse works well for half hour then gradually becomes spastic. One and half hour it is usless. My A+cert friend has never seen this problem. Reboot corrects the problem temporarily. Keyboard also responds the same way. Thanks for help Bever

Welcome to the world of Microsoft and ME. I've had a similar problem with ME too. My mouse or keyboard would just freeze and the only way to get them working again was to either unplug and replug or reboot. I tried different devices, but same issue. I finally upgraded to XP and haven't had any more problems.

It is possible that your motherboard could be causing some problems too, although I'm not sure exactly what to try for that. I could be an interrupt conflict that the system is setting. You could check your BIOS setting as see if PnP OS is checked or not. I've found that if I leave PnP unchecked in the BIOS, even if I have a PnP OS, things work better. Hope this helps, at least a little! Roger

This could be a virus or the you need to update the drivers to conform to WIN ME

Run your anti-virus and check the Device manager for IRQ conflicts

What is the temperature of your processor when it happens? May be your processor is suffering from electro migration, which is usually affect by the temperature. Electromigration means it decreasing up the performance of your processor.

Keep yourprocessor cool, i think it will solve your problem....
