    spooler & McAfee

    I’m trying to resolve a constant problem with the Win9x spooler hanging with McAfee virus installed. Of 100 PIII boxes 20-30% develop this problem. An uninstall doesn’t always resolve. Also problems with Word fonts selections arise. Any and all ideas welcome.

      I had this same problem about 2 months ago with several Toshiba laptops. After loosing all my hair over this and not finding the answer I finally called Toshiba tech support. They said all Toshiba laptops MUST have at least 90% free resources BEFORE installing MSOffice. If not Spooler Process will hang the machine. Low and Behold it worked! Uninstall MSOffice, free up resources using MSConfig, then reinstall office and see what happens. I also had this happen with a few Ultra desktops of various cpu flavors.
