My backup are failing daily with these error message:
The backup data in 'TRates_BackupToDEV' is incorrectly formatted. Backups cannot be appended, but existing backup sets may still be usable. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 3266) BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 3013). The step failed.

Which I've got to admit is n't a damn lot of help. I've had this when I've backed up to a device (disk) on one machine and then move it to another and attempted a restore from device (restore from file worked) but there was only one backup set in the file. Other than that they appear to be saying hardware/network error. Me thinks ms bug personally.
