SQL Export Error

By mtorres7 ·
Trying to export a MS SQL 2000 database from the server to a SQL Desktop installation, I got the error message:
Error source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
Error Description: DBNETLIB connection open Connect(). SQL server does not exists or access denied. Context: Error during initialization of the provider.

I can see both databases' tables, and browse the data.

Just because you can browse the desktop installation's tables doesn't mean that you have the correct permissions to create a new database. Try to connect to the desktop database using Enterprise Manager with the same login you were using for the export process and just try to create a simple database with one table. If that fails then you don't have the correct permissions for creating the database on the desktop.
