By kstariha72 ·
anyone know anything about an error message when trying to view a query saying .....

The query cannot be executed because some files are either missing or not registered.

I solved this with the following procedure.

1. Install SQL client tools and Reboot system.
2. Download and install MDAC 2.8 (SQL Server running in background). Reboot system.
3. Query the tables with EM.
4. Run Windows update to install the security path for MDAC. Reboot system as usual!
5. Query the tables with EM and it works!!!!

Run the setup of the SQL Server 2000 Client Tools again to make sure that the required files are registered.
If the reinstallation of the SQL Server 2000 Client Tools does not correct the problem, then re-register the following DLLs by using Regsvr32.exe, and then restart the computer: C:\Program files\Common Files\System\ADO\Msado15.dll
C:\Program files\Common Files\System\Ole Db\Oledb32.dll
C:\Program files\Common Files\System\Ole Db\Sqloledb.dll

Use Regsvr32.exe to register the preceding DLLs.

For example, at the command prompt type:

C>regsvr32 C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ADO\Msado15.dll C>regsvr32 C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Ole Db\Oledb32.dll C>regsvr32 C:\Program files\Common Files\System\Ole Db\Sqloledb.dll C>regsvr32 C:\WINNT\System32\Atl.dll
