SQL Server 6.5 upgrade to SQL Server 2000; Eliminating BLOB values

By marion.stokes ·
I am currently testing a SQL Server 6.5 upgrade to SQL Server 2000. I used the SQL 2000 upgrade wizard initially. The wizard brought over the SQL 6.5 user database and objects correctly, but the named pipe export and import of data failed. At this point I decided drop the imported tables and use DTS to recreate the tables and import the data. All of the tables were correctly recreated but only 80% of the data was copied to those tables.
For the uncopied 20% of data I received this message from the DTS utility: Query-based insertion of BLOB values is not supported. This is a limitation of the ODBC provider for SQL Server. How do I reformat the values in those SQL Server 6.5 tables so that they are not flagged as BLOB values.
