SQL Server 7.0 SP4 sqlagent.exe

By betinasmiell ·
I have installed SQL Server 7.0 SP4 and all associated security patches on a Windows 2000 workstation. The sqlagent.exe service now runs in a command prompt that is permanently visible on my desktop. If I exit the command prompt it then stops the service. Do you have any idea how this can be resolved?

Make a change to the SQL Agent service

Under the Properties of the SQL Agent service, select the 'Log On' tab. The option of 'Allow service to interact with desktop' is probably selected. If this is the case, unselect the option. When you restart SQL Agent service, the command prompt will no longer appear.

The reason for the above is that this option shows the background processes running on the desktop. You don't have any need for that re: SQL Agent, so this should take care of it.
