SQL Sever

By jacksavage20 ·
When I turn on my machine I get a message that says,--- " Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (Could not open SQLEVN70.RLL). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem."--- After I click the X box another message comes on, it reads as such. ---"The procedure entry point GetProcessingImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library PSAPI.DLL." --- My question is, Can someone walk me thru the processes I need to correct these problems. I have a little knowledge about these things but I need some help with this one. I would appreciate it if someone would take the time to help me out with this. Thank you, Jack

Can you un-install you SQL server software and then re-install it?

Because that is what it is asking you to do.
OR: read more below.

FIX: Uninstall, Repair, or Modify Fails on Program with Embedded SQL Server 2000 MSDE Merge Modules

SYMPTOMS
SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine merge modules (.msm files) can be embedded into a Windows Installer based setup application by creating your own .msi file.

When you try to modify the program or uninstall it afterwards, the uninstall may fail with the following error message:
The wizard was interrupted before application name could be successfully installed.
This problem is specific only to a program with the symptoms described previously.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 2000.

This problem is corrected in a later release of Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Desktop Engine Edition, which is available as a "Refresh CD" that was created to fix this specific problem. The Refresh CD is a full copy of Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Desktop Engine Edition.

Contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the Refresh CD. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services phone numbers and information about support costs, refer to the following Web address:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;CNTACTMS (http://www.microsoft.com)
Additionally, the later release of Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Desktop Engine Edition (MSDE 2000), will also be included in the following products when they are released:
