Standard Screen Resolutions

by jon devman . Updated 22 years, 12 months ago

The company I work for has a standard that requires a screen resolution of 1024*768 to be used on 17″ VDU’s. However, this has not been enforced and a minority of users have changed their PC’s to 800*600.

Our existing core systems are optimised for 1024*768 however users could ‘get by’ using 800*600. A new major system, just implemented, now requires 1024*768.

Some users, have therefore been ‘forced’ to move to the standard 1024 from 800, and are now complaining that the new resolution is straining their eyes.

I just wondered whether anyone else has had this issue arise and what other organisation’s approach to standard screen resolutions is.
