storage of images in database

i want to ask th question that
how should i store gif,bmp etc. images in sql server 2000
its an urgent requirement

Well the answer in my opinion

is you shouldn't, you should store a url to it.
However, you need a blob type column (image is suitable data type.
Then you need a Utility to get them in there.
Usual method is to pick the image file, loadit into a stream, open a query, insert / update stream it into the blobfield and then post.
Note if you are storing differentypes of images and you don't want the oiginal file name, it would be wise to store the file extension as well.
