Strange Lockups

By MDDDDD ·
It seems that whenever I play a game on my computer, my system will randomly lock up. Everytime, I hear some kind of screeching noises coming out of the speakers and I have to reboot manually. I thought it was my sound card, but this has never happened to me before. I have all the lastest drivers for my system.

Windows 2000 Professional
Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer

I needd more information what video card are you using and how much ram do you have and what is the percentage of system resources are you using, the problem as described sounds like a lock up caused by running out of system memory due to low system resources. I will make recommendations of the possible solutions when i get more info

Sure.
GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB version.
512MB of DDR2100 RAM.
Windows 2000 Pro does not really give a readout of system resources like the 9x versions do. As far as I know anyway. Thank you for your time and I hope this helps.

You can also check for hardware conflicts. Hardware that stops responding.
