Streaming Media Proxy's

By FrAz ·
The clients in our network use about 85% of our internet bandwidth for listening to webradio streams. We would like to decrease that by using a streaming media proxy so the stream from a particular webradio station only has to be downloaded once and multiple users can connect to that stream from the proxy server.

So far I have come across an appliance from Cisco (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/netsol/ns340/ns394/ns50/ns264/networking_solutions_white_paper09186a00801f469b.shtml) one from NetAPP (http://www.netapp.com/solutions/streaming.html) and proxy-server software from RealNetworks (http://www.realnetworks.com/products/proxy/). Our users listen primarily to Windows Media streams.

My questions now are:
Is there anyone who uses one of these products?
What are your experiences?
Do you have any pointers to sites where I can possibly find more info on stream proxy's?
any other relevant info?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
