    Suggestions for database system development

I am about to embark on designing a business system for a small company. I have been considering using MS Access for the back and front end or MySQL back end with web-based front end. These are the technologies I’m most familiar with, but I’m wondering what other technologies I should be also considering.

The system will need to do some exporting to other applications (ie QuickBooks, desktop publishing etc.) and will need to also generate some paperwork (invoices, picking slips, etc.) The client runs a Win2003 Server but doesn’t have a big budget for new server software. They do have Access on their desktops. It’s a small firm – about 5-10 employees will interface with this system.

    Any thoughts?

for anything with more than one user. Access front end and may be sql server experess for the back is a possibility. Web front end access back end works as you can use the web server to do the multi user stuff.
Another option is do you need a realtional database as such, depends on what you are doing
But an xml based document model might do the trick as well.
