"surface test failure,HD about to fail?

"surface test failure=HD is about to fail?


I just bought TuffTEST. pro, (tufftest.com )
it found a "surface test failure" on a MAXTOR 6L040J2 40 gig HD,I bought last december, what does that tell me, HD is about to fail?

the HD has beengiving me the blue screen of death,also IE 5,often crashes,i'm running K2000 pro,its a on a 450 megahertz AMD K6-2 ,and i'm a heavy user,use CD burner alot,on DSL,chat pgms etc ,on net 6hrs + /day

In that case, you hard drive is no longer reliable. And you mentioned that the source of crashing your system....And your are a heavy user you need a heavy duty system!!!

So, if you want a system that run smoothly,, try to replace the source of crash..

Here in our cafe, we don't rely on Maxtorr, we used Seagate, i dont know if there is a motherboard issue there but all of our Maxtorr drive last about maximum of 6 months compare to Seagate that give a good sign in our business, Our motherboard here is Soltek and Epox.
