Does the Laptop crash without the CD ROM?

Is this an external USB CD ROM or ?

Try swapping out the CD ROM drive to eliminate the problem.

Stop Error Code like 0x0000000A, can be caused by several different things

Failing or defective hardware - incompatible driver - etc.

It seems as though this points back to your cdrom, possibly the driver became corrupted, and you may need to reinstall it, however,

To better determine your problem, write down the full error message and code, and ck out the Knowledge Base on Microsoft's website, do a search for stop error 0xa.
