I need your help!
I built a PC with the new EPoX 8KTA+ Board, a Thunderbird 800Mhz, 2x256MB PC133, SB 128 PCI and Voodoo3 3000 PCI.
When I tried to install Win98SE, it crashed after the installation, but I got WinME to work. Ok so far. I havethe newest bios and all newest drivers. I checked all connections trice and the RAM in different PC’s. The only reason for my system keeping crashing seems to be the Voodoo Card. (Which is okay, it worked fine in another PC)
I have tried the optimized, safe, and my own BIOS settings, including advices from 3Dfx.com, but the following keeps getting on my nerves:
Once the system runs, it seems to be unimportant what I do, but single pixels and lines appear on my screen. After a while the display totally freezes, but the HD still indicates, that the system is working! I can move the mouse, but the system does not accept any inputs like keyboard and mouseclicks.
Okay, now it runs quite stable on 800×600 with 256 colors… I have tried somegames to find any clue, and the best hints where given by Quake2. In Software Rendering mode it works fine, but changeing to OpenGL or 3DfxGlide produce a crash. I can start Windows ME’s Pinball, but starting Solitair causes a crash while drawing the flying cards!
The Voodoo Card is okay, I have plugged it into another PC in the meantime…
Has anybody an idea what I can change/do to convince my hardware of working properly?
