system error 53, network path not found.

By fischerkris ·
We have a small wireless network with one work group (7 computers). My computer can see and access all computers on the work group except one, this computer can also see and access all computers except mine. I can't figure out what the difference is with the computers, and how they can see all computers except one? I can see the computer on the work group but when you click it you get the system error 53 network path not found. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem.

A couple of thing to try

by Jacky Howe In reply to system error 53, network ...

Check that File and Print Sharing is enabled on the PC's. Check your Firewall settings.
<br>
Ensure all the necessary File & Printer Sharing ports are open on all routers/firewalls between the local and remote machines, and in any type of firewall software on the remote machine.
<br>
Confirm that the Operating System (O/S) is properly configured with regard to Names Resolution.
<br><br>
Click Start, click Control Panel
<br>
Click Network Connections.
<br>
Right-click "Local Area Connection", and then click "Properties".
<br>
Click on (highlight) "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", and then click "Properties" button
<br>
Click the General tab, and then click "Advanced" button , bottom right.
<br>
Click the WINS tab.
<br>
Under "NetBIOS setting" section, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and then click OK two times, then "close".
<br>
( ) Default
<br>
(*) Enable NetBios
<br>
( ) Disable NetBios
<br>
For Example: Open a CMD prompt, then Ping the remote machine by its Host Name.
<br>
A failure to PING is almost always a firewall configuration issue. Any failure to PING needs to be corrected before you go any further.

Jacky,

I was trying desperately to get a Windows Mobile Device onto a server via GPRS/VPN and your post helped me do it!

Nice one.

Thanks.
