Working on Dell Dimension XPS R400, upgraded to XP Home, added Cd writer and added 128MB memory. Connected new APC Battery Backup and completed software install. System will not start when battery is connected to the system. On Restart system boots to a black screen and will not continue to load. On Shutdown and restart, system likewise boots to black screen and will not load. Can disconnect battery from system and computer loads, shutsdown on restart and full shutdown. Have checked entire system for device and driver conflicts, cleaned system up (dup files, programs, etc.) checked for viruses and removed all spy/adware. Also tried another battery backup and another USB cable but had same results. When the sytem is connected to the battery backup, it will not finish boot cycle and hangs on a black screen. Anyone have any suggestions for a fix????
